In spite of the slow down in U.S. and other world economies, there is dearth of Software professionals all over the world. The globalization has a bigger impact on the software industry then any other industry. The Software industry has achieved the highest mobility of human capital in the last 2 decades.

With all these growth opportunities in the sphere, India is placed at the right place w.r.t. to the manpower for the software industry. We churn out the highest number of Software professionals than any other country; still the IT industry seems to be at a shortage of quality software professional. There is an overwhelming flow of jobs for a software professional in the IT industry.

The MCA course is exclusively designed to meet the IT requirements of IT Trained Students for various organizations. The well balanced course significantly emphasizes on planning, designing and building of complex commercial application software and system software. The MCA program also places equal importance on the functional knowledge in various areas.

Eligibility

For normal entry a 3 year graduation is a must.

Lateral entry to the second semester of MCA

You are eligible for a Lateral entry to the second semester of MCA if you hold a 3 year graduation and six month Computer course from a reputed institution.

Note: In this Lateral Entry Scheme, students have to appear and pass the First Semester Examination. Books of First semester will be supplied by the University and Internal Assessment will be completed at the Learning centre.

Provision for Re-entry to third semester of MCA

You are eligible for a Re-entry to third semester of MCA if you hold a PGDCA of SMU

Lateral entry to the 3rd semester of MCA

You are eligible for a Lateral entry to the 3rd semester of MCA

If you hold a BCA/BSc(IT/CS/AIT)/BE/BTech(IT/CS/E&C/E&E) from a recognized University.

OR

If you hold a 3 year graduation with PGDCA/PGDIT or equivalent from a recognized University/successful completion of A level course from DOEACC after graduation.

OR

If you hold a 3 year graduation with 2 year diploma from CMC/ET&T/NIIT/APTECH/ 2 years Advanced Diploma in IT from Centre for Electronic Design and Technology of India(CEDIT). This category is not eligible for exit qualification for MSc CS.

Duration

Master of Computer Application (MCA) is a three year Degree course and has an option for lateral entry wherein a student can enroll directly in the 2nd or the 3rd semester depending on the lateral entry criterion.
