What to do after 12th? What are my options after 12th? Where is my career headed after school? Such questions have perennially haunted almost every Indian student who is on the verge of finishing school, and probably you too. The choice is one of the most decisive moments of your life as this single choice has the potential to choose the path that you tread through out your career. Unlike other decisions, this one will stick with you for your entire life. So, it makes sense to do some research and seek professional expertise.
Of course, the popular choice for every one after 12th seems to be the Delhi University colleges, but for the benefit of students who do not make it to DU we will discuss options other than the DU in this article.

For Students of Commerce:
You will find a slew of professional colleges offering a bewildering choice of professional courses. It makes sense to opt for professional courses as they groom you directly for a vocation and generally lead into good job choices. Students of commerce would do well by going in for professional course like BBA, BBS, BFI rather than the generic B.Com. These admissions to these courses, are of course, are subject to entrance examinations. A professional course would definitely put you on a fast track to success.
For Students of Science:
The popular choice here, of course, are the engineering, architecture and medical courses that usually require an entrance examination to be passed. Apart from engineering and medical courses, BCA, BSc in Information Technology are hot property and considered to be very prestigious. What’s more? They result in direct jobs in a shorter time span than engineering or medical courses. These courses have had an increasing importance due to IT becoming an indistinguishable part our daily life. From schools to workplaces, it has claimed a dominant position because of its many useful functions. Hence, if computers sound like your thing to do, go ahead and enroll your self in a BCA or BSc (IT) and watch your career take off.
Career in Management:
Business management is one of the most lucrative and sought after sought-after career profiles in modern times. A management course has the potential to open up nearly endless opportunities in the job market. What’s more? Your earning potential is directly connected to your abilities that generally result in excellent remuneration and job satisfaction.
Distance Education:
With changing times and many students opting to start working directly after school, distance education has increasingly gained importance, because they enable them to work and learn simultaneously. A student can opt for various courses through correspondence as well as Distance Education.
You might go in for a distance learning course if:
- You want to enhance your educational or professional skills but cannot devote full time to it.
- You are working, and want to study side by side.
- You want to do additional/ full time courses along with your studies.
- You need an immediate job along with your studies due to personal issues.
